Just because I haven't posted in a few weeks does not mean that I haven't been busy! Quite the opposite actually. I have been swamped with work for school and orders for The Muffin Top. This is extremely exciting, but overwhelming at the same time!
I made this cute football cake for my friend, Missy's, little boy, Blake. He turned 4 and is an avid Aggie and Cowboy fan. I wont judge where this little man's team alliance has come from since Missy's husband doesn't judge us for our obsession with Twilight. I was told recently that we should be referred to as Twihards.... I wont disagree.
Ok, so apparently the new trend for announcing the gender of your baby is to throw a "Gender Party." If you don't know what that is you must be living under a rock (you're under there with me, so don't feel any shame). This was actually a really fun cake to do, but a little weighty at the same time. The way these parties work is to have the ultrasound technician call the baker (me) to reveal the gender of the baby....to only me. Once I have the gender of the kiddo under wraps I will then dye the cake either blue or pink, so that when the mom-to-be cuts into the cake she reveals whether she will be expecting a little "sugar and spice and everything nice" or "boogers and snails and puppy dog tails" (I forgot how that one goes, so I just made up an alternate...it works though, right?). Pretty fun party, huh? I think I am going to have to throw one of these whenever I get to become an aunt! (hint, hint...hurry up please, dear sisters!)
