I can't believe it is already May! Whoo! The end of the school-year is coming to a close, and there are so many things to look forward to in the coming weeks!

I just know that this month is going to fly by. There is so much to do and definitely not enough time. It's hard balancing the closing duties that come with the end of school (wrapping up lessons, turning in grades, writing final exams, attending graduations, etc, etc) and the opening days of wedding season (whoever came up with this "June Bride" nonsense needs to be punished!). Really it is not that bad, but I am extremely busy.

Above is a photo of a wedding cake that I did a few weeks ago. I loved the look of it, but I will never again do a tiered carrot cake! I was a bit hesitant to do it anyway, and my doubts where confirmed while driving it to the venue and watching the cream cheese icing slowly soften and begin to shift. Oh, the horror!! By the time I sat it on the table there was nothing I could do except pray that the guests (and bride) would overlook the slightly leaning cake once they had a piece in their mouths. I was assured that they did when I received raving reviews from the groom's mother the next day (whew!).

I have another wedding next weekend for a dear friend of our family. I'm pretty excited about the dessert spread. Sarah (the bride) has been pretty laid back about the planning process (almost to a fault!) and has given me pretty free reign as to the layout and design. I'll try to be more prompt in posting pictures, but I'm not making any promises.

Well I'm off to plan my lessons for tomorrow's classes.... I am a perpetual procrastinator and I always feel extremely hypocritical when I get on to my students for doing it. Such is life.... and the power of being the teacher (I'm going to miss that).
